The way we live and work is shaped by the environments we create around us.

Buildings affect our performance, health, and wellbeing. Smart buildings focus on their users, in order to ensure that you enjoy a comfortable and healthy space. To achieve this, smart buildings are packed with interconnected smart technologies, platforms gathering data, and advanced analytics. They enable smart services and solutions to help run the building efficiently and sustainably. Sustainability requires acknowledging that buildings are a part of a larger ecosystem. Smart buildings connect to adjacent buildings and the city as a whole to enable efficient usage and sharing of resources. Ultimately, it’s all about creating a sustainable, efficient and user-friendly environment that ensures you can perform your best.

Smart buildings provide sustainable outcomes for companies, people, and the planet.

Energy efficient functions & operations

Energy & Operational Efficiency

All the building technology is connected to the Building Management System (BMS), which uses predictive analytics to optimise operations and anticipate needs.

Performance & wellbeing

Performance & Wellbeing for People

The buliding adapt to the needs of different users, provides comfortable, convenient working conditions, and gives visibility to building conditions.

Sustainability targets

Achieve Sustainability Targets

Energy consumption is optimised, technology is modernised, and the building is connected to the city‘s smart grid.

Smart Building Solutions

Caverion SRI Consultation

  • We analyse the building’s intelligence level and provide customer-specific recommendations for technical needs.
  • Based on European Commission EPBD directive and common SRI calculation method.

Building automation

  • Operates bi-directionally and enables communication with connected technical building systems e.g. security and safety systems, EV charging stations, smart lighting, renewable energy systems, etc.
  • Optimize energy use as a function of (local) production and optimized green energy storage
  • Improve comfort for residents via automation
  • Automate diagnoses and maintenance predictions

Solutions enabled by smart technologies and automated analytics e.g.

  • Demand Response: Limits peak power and responds to changes in the price of electricity
  • Caverion SmartView: Real-time visibility to the operations, conditions and performance of your buildings

Set targets for your building

By setting targets, we are able to measure how the building is performing compared to its targets: is it enabling people's wellbeing and achieving sustainably goals? Typical targets include:

  • Healthy work environment
  • Higher employee retention
  • Higher productivity
  • Higher end-user satisfaction
  • Lower building life cycle costs
  • Lower energy consumption
  • Less CO2 emissions

Building Management System

A modern building management system (or BMS) is a key component of a smart building and helps you reduce CO2 emissions. The BMS makes your building flexible and adaptable, while integrating it to the surrounding city.

The data collected through the BMS can be visualised to users through their smart devices. Users can remotely monitor their energy consumption, manage building functions such as lighting, cooling or heating, and detect abnormalities early on.

  • Ventilation
  • Fire detection
  • Cooling
  • E-charging for vehicles
  • Security systems
  • Solar panels
  • Heating
  • Sub-level building automation systems
  • Lighting

Monitor and follow real-time information in one system

By adding a BMS, the building has now become smarter and is gathering huge amounts of data. Analysing this information helps you lower costs, improve building conditions and ensure the happiness of your building users and tenants.

Caverion SmartView is a platform that provides real-time visibility to the operations, conditions and performance of your buildings.

Caverion SmartView benefits:

  • Access all relevant building data with just a few clicks
  • Benchmark your entire building portfolio
  • Move from reactive to proactive building maintenance
  • Monitor how well SLAs are met
  • Increase building user satisfaction

Understand your building's readiness to adapt

A smart office building incorporates technical building systems, enhanced analytics and platform technology. Start by assessing your Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI). SRI is an analysis of the building’s smart readiness level based on the EU’s Energy Performance Building’s Directive and a common calculation method.

The SRI calculation evaluates the building's capability to perform three main functions:

  1. Optimise energy efficiency and overall in-use performance
  2. Adapt its operation to the needs of the occupant
  3. Adapt to signals from the grid (e.g. energy demand response)
