Huurre spearheads CO2 development in Finland
Already in 2007, Huurre developed Finland's first-ever freezer plant that runs on carbon dioxide. Huurre brought to life a brand new, more effective and energy-efficient operating model based on CO2 for K-Supermarket Seilori in Espoo.
At the end of 2008 Huurre agreed on the delivery of CO2 operated retail store refrigeration facilities to S-Market Söderkulla. The technical solution is unique in Finland: the facility includes a direct cooling circuit and an indirect heating circuit, where pressurised liquid CO2 is circulated by pumps. The project is part of a refrigeration system research project investigating the use and applicability of carbon dioxide in retail refrigeration.
Huurre delivered entirely CO2-based retail store in 2009
Huurre supplied an entirely CO2-based retail store refrigeration facility to a K-Supermarket Peltola in Finland. The facility is different to the earlier plants, as it is implemented entirely as a direct expansion (DX) solution. One of the benefits of a full-fledged CO2 facility is high energy efficiency: its energy consumption is 15-20% less than with a conventional facility. The facility is very environmentally friendly and it meets the strictest design criteria.
