Huurre Norway has signed a contract of 7,8 million euro for the supply and installation of a central cold store for Norway Pelagic, the world leader in production and sales of pelagic fish. The project started at the end of February and the cold store will be completed in September 2011.

Huurre adds value to the customer

The new terminal of 7780 square meters will be a central cold store for Norway Pelagic. All the 10 production plants of the company will ship their produced (deep frozen) stock of products to this storage before they are sent to the buyer. Norway Pelagic will this way have better control over the products and there will be less need to store fish in the markets. "More cost-efficient plants are an essential development in the industry, this way we reach a higher value added for each kg fish landed in Norway," comments the Norway Pelagic CEO Gunnar Domstein.

Storage capacity of the new cold store is 20,000 tons. The central store will consist of three 11.5 meter high 1870 square meter chambers. The contract also includes a small area with offices and separate area for Norwegian food inspection.
